Blue Dreams: Napoli’s Championship Fever

Blue Sea, Blue Sky, Blue Madness

Right now in Naples, there’s only one color that matters: blue. The Napoli team is sitting pretty at the top of the Serie A table with 74 points, and honestly? The entire city has collectively lost its mind in the most beautiful way possible.

Everyone here is manifesting, praying, sending wishes into the universe—whatever it takes. They want this. They *need* this. It’s been 34 years since Napoli lifted the Scudetto, and the hunger is palpable. This could be their third Serie A title since 1990, and the weight of that possibility hangs over the city like the best kind of magic.

Why I’m Staying in My Lane

Here’s the thing though: I have a confession to make. I’m what you might call a certified jinx. My Pàgo family will vouch for this—I have a documented track record of cursing teams the moment I start rooting for them. It’s not pretty. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it’s the truth.

So when people ask me if I’m supporting Napoli this season? I have to laugh and politely decline. I genuinely cannot show up at matches or publicly declare my allegiance. The superstition is real, and I respect the game too much to risk it.

The City’s Celebration Energy

But just because I can’t participate doesn’t mean I haven’t been documenting the absolute *chaos* happening around me. The fans, the colors, the flags hanging from windows, the chants echoing through the streets—it’s intoxicating energy. People are walking around like they’ve already won it all, and there’s something so infectious about that hope.

I’m keeping my good vibes at a respectful distance, but I’m definitely witnessing history. Whether Napoli brings it home or not, this season will be remembered. The way this city has united around their team, the belief that’s coursing through every neighborhood—that’s the stuff that reminds you why football matters so much in Italy.

So here’s to Napoli. Here’s to the blue sea and blue sky and the blue hearts beating all across this incredible city. And here’s to me, safely on the sidelines, keeping my infamous curse far, far away. 🤣 Forza Napoli—just… without me in the picture.

I translate flavors, habits, and identities between two worlds that rarely meet—but deeply resonate when they do. This space is where those worlds collide. And occasionally, where they argue.
